PCU RN Job in Hilo, HI

Join Hilo Medical Center as a Registered Nurse in our Progressive Care Unit flex pool. This is a 12-hour day shift role offering you the opportunity to work across multiple acute-care units and expand your clinical experience.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour day shifts, 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
• 36 hours per week following orientation
• Hours are not guaranteed

Role Details

You will float between three units based on staffing needs: the Medical Unit (77 beds), Laulima Surgical Acute Unit (18 beds), and occasionally the Cardiovascular Unit (15 beds). Nurse-to-patient ratios vary by unit—typically 1:6 on the Medical and Laulima units, 1:4 on Cardiovascular, and 1:8 nights on the Medical Unit. Ratios may shift due to unexpected leave.

You will work with Meditech EMR, Pyxis medication dispensing, wound vacs, and chest tubes in your daily practice.

Requirements

• Active State of Hawaii nursing license by assignment start date
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• 2 to 10 years of nursing experience
• Professional nursing attire and clean scrubs required

Preferred Qualifications

• PALS certification
• Procedural Sedation certification
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• ENPC (Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course)

This assignment runs 105 days, starting November 2, 2026. Weekly pay is $2,252.
