RN - Med Surg Oncology

Job Details:

• Night shift position working 3x12-hour shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Patient ratio of 1:6 (ratios may be higher during times of increased census)
• Call required if called off on a pre-scheduled shift
• Floating required to similar units and alternate care locations, including inpatient holding in the ED or any alternate medical patient care location
• Contract length of 13-26 weeks accepted
• 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• BLS certification required
• ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Administration certification preferred; must be willing to obtain prior to or during assignment
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Care for patients receiving chemotherapy and biotherapy via IV, PO, or injection
• Patient diagnoses include AKI, Sepsis, Cancer, Septic shock, Pain, OD, Malignant Neoplasms, ARF, Encephalopathy, FTT, Diabetic foot ulcers, and Heparin drips
• Required skills include Med/Surg, Colostomy care, Accessing Ports, Blood Product Administration, Central line blood draw, Peripheral Line Care/Management, PICC line management, Heparin, Insulin, Surgical drains, Chest tubes, Nasal Cannula, Non-invasive airway management, Isolation Precautions, and Wound Care/Wound Vac
• Unit systems include PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR
• Orientation consists of 24 hours (2 shifts)
• Scrubs: Navy blue and white
• Attendance at monthly staff meetings is required
• Contract staff will be assigned to a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters
• Shifts called out will need to have make-up shifts rescheduled
