Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Option to sign for 36 or 48 hours per week (3x12 or 4x12 shifts)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call required
• Patient ratio of 1:4-5 for days, nights, and weekends
• 2 years of experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
• Must pass Relias EKG exam; interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
• Charting system: EPIC (required)
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Will float within service line to meet facility needs
• Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13-week contract; cancelled shifts must be of regular shift length
• Maximum of 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract
• Care for post-operative medical surgical patients
• Experience with bariatrics, trachs, Endo Onc, MIS, plastics, ortho, and ophthalmology preferred
• Priority focus on getting patients up and moving and providing CHG baths
• Required skills: Phlebotomy, accessing/managing ports, blood product administration, central line blood draw, heparin management, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, PCA, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, starting and maintaining IVs, and management of cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration)
• Proficiency with Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR handoff required
• NPs available on the floor Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
• House staff coverage available 24 hours per day
• Phlebotomy services available 9:00 PM to 5:30 AM Monday through Sunday
• EKG machine available on floor; RNs perform and read EKGs when needed (training available if needed)
• Special equipment includes Sit/Stand lift, Hoyer lift, bladder scanner, and EKG machine
• Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary
• Previous charge experience preferred
