Operating Room RN Job in Olney, MD

Join MedStar Montgomery Medical Center as a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room. This 91-day travel assignment offers you the opportunity to work in a busy surgical environment handling approximately 25 cases per day across 7 operating rooms.

Schedule and Expectations

• 5x8 weekly schedule: two 8-hour day shifts (flex: 6:45 AM–3:15 PM or 10:45 AM–7:15 PM) and two 12-hour day shifts (6:45 AM–7:15 PM) per week
• On-call shifts: 12-hour rotations (7:00 AM–7:00 PM or 7:00 PM–7:00 AM), averaging approximately 3 per 6-week schedule, mostly on weekends
• One required 12-hour buddy call orientation shift within the first two weeks (weekend options: Saturday or Sunday, days or evenings)
• Up to five on-call shifts per 6-week schedule

Clinical Focus

You will care for patients across all age groups—adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. The OR handles a wide range of surgical procedures including general, orthopedic, gynecologic, robotic, vascular, and minimally invasive surgeries. Experience with Da Vinci Xi and Mako Surgical Systems is preferred.

Required Qualifications

• Current BLS certification
• State RN License or Compact License
• Minimum 2 years of General Surgery experience
• Travel healthcare experience
• Proficiency with Cerner charting system
• Community hospital experience
