PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts, 3 shifts per week, from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• May be scheduled every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
• Must work at least 1 holiday per 13-week contract
• Patient ratio of 1:5 on days, nights, and weekends
• May work without CNA support
• Floating required within skillset to other PCU or medical-surgical units
• No on-call requirements
• Serves adult and geriatric patient population with a daily census of 27
• Hospitalist PCU with primary focus on Pulmonary/GI patients; no ventilator beds on this unit
• Minimum 1 year of experience required; previous charge experience preferred
• Experience in PCU, DOU, IMC, or stepdown settings required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Active Virginia state or compact RN license required
• Required clinical skills include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
• Common IV medications include Cardizem (no titration), Amiodarone, Heparin (protocol), and Insulin (protocol)
• Respiratory support skills required: nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Experience with rapid response/code teams and isolation precautions required
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, and rapid response teams
