Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• Universal Care RN position with rotating every other Saturday required; no Sunday shifts
• Patient ratio of 4:1 on days, nights, and weekends
• Minimum 3 years of experience required
• Travel experience required
• BSN education required
• Charting system experience required; Epic charting system used
• Community hospital experience required
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
• Daily census ranges from 8 to 20 patients
• Provides care for Med Surg/Tele observation or admission hold patients in overflow area, including cardiac, GI, respiratory, and fall patients requiring repeat CT while on blood thinners
• Write initial nursing histories, assess patient conditions, and develop individualized care plans
• Coordinate and supervise delivery of patient care for a group of patients
• Provide direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, and adjust nursing care process as needed
• Teach patients and family members how to manage healthcare needs
• Maintain accurate and thorough documentation in patient records
• Assist physicians with patient exams and special procedures
• Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden adverse developments, such as cardiac arrest
• May serve as relief Charge Nurse as assigned
• May be required to float within the Emergency Services Division
• Required skills include: accessing/managing ports, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care/management, CVA management, feeding tube care, heparin protocols, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration), PCA, PICC line management, phlebotomy, procedural sedation administration/monitoring, renal failure management, telemetry monitoring, titration of insulin drips, wound care/wound vac, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, CPI (MAB accepted in lieu of CPI)
• Valid California RN license required
