ED RN Job in Salem, VA

Join Lewisgale Medical Center VA as a Registered Nurse in our 27-bed Emergency Department. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting November 2, 2026, with a day shift schedule of three 12-hour shifts per week (7:00 AM–7:00 PM).

About the Role

You will work in a high-acuity, fast-paced emergency setting with patient ratios of 4–6:1 (preferably 5:1). The department operates with a charge nurse, 5 RNs, and 2–3 medics during the day, with staffing increases at 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM. You will perform a wide range of ER procedures, including rapid sequence intubation (RSI), sepsis interventions, stroke protocol with tPA administration, central line placement, care of psychiatric patients, and facility transfers under EMTALA guidelines.

Scheduling and Requirements

• Shift: Day shifts (7:00 AM–7:00 PM), 3 days per week
• Weekend requirement: Four weekend shifts (Saturday or Sunday) per four-week period
• No on-call responsibilities
• No floating to other units

Qualifications

• Current RN license
• Minimum 2–3 years of Emergency Room experience
• Completion of 2–3 prior travel assignments
• Experience in high-volume, high-acuity ERs preferred

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Preferred Certifications

• ENPC (Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• NIH Stroke Scale

Facility Information
