Med Surg RN Job in Wilmington, NC

You will work as a Registered Nurse on a 12-bed Surgical Short Stay unit at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC. This is a 91-day travel contract starting October 26, 2026.

Shift and Schedule

• 3x12 night shifts per week, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required with 12 weekend night shifts per contract
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6

Role Details

You will care for adult surgical patients, most admitted from PACU with stays under 24 hours, plus pre-op patients and inpatient surgical admissions as needed. Patients span multiple service lines including colorectal, endoscopic, general, gynecologic, maxillofacial, neurologic, orthopedic, plastic, urologic, and vascular surgery. Float is required as needed to inpatient surgery floors, inpatient holding areas, or medical floors. You must pass EKG testing prior to start and be able to work holidays.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg experience
• Short stay experience required
• ACLS and BLS certification
• First time travelers accepted
• Charge experience preferred
• EPIC experience preferred

Special Considerations

Contract staff will be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty, or disaster situations. You will work with specialized equipment including CBI, Doppler ultrasound, BD Alaris Infusion System with Large Volume Pump Module and PCA Module, JP drains, Medela Wound Vac System, and Prevena Wound Vac System.

Compensation

Weekly pay is $1,931.
