Job Details:

• Provide high quality, compassionate care to patients and families in the emergency department setting
• Assess patient needs, identify urgent or emergent care priorities, and collaboratively provide direct care
• Apply appropriate interventions and evaluate patient progress throughout the ED visit
• Conduct primary and secondary patient assessments for patients of all age groups, detecting and documenting deviations from norm within acceptable time frames
• Perform triage and assign priority of care in accordance with Triage Standards as outlined in ESI training
• Utilize invasive and non-invasive procedures, treatments, and therapeutic interventions to manage life-threatening and routine emergency situations
• Assess physiological, psychosocial, emotional, and cultural needs of patients and their families
• Establish rapport with patients and families, address comfort needs, and provide frequent updates throughout the ED visit
• Document and report any suspicion of domestic violence or abuse across all age groups
• Prepare patients and families for diagnostic procedures and treatments and provide appropriate discharge instructions
• Make appropriate referrals for post-emergency care
• Maintain patient communication boards throughout the ED stay
• Collaborate with and delegate tasks to team members consistent with their education, training, and scope of practice
• Comply with infection prevention strategies to safeguard public safety
• Minimum 2 years of acute MedSurg or emergency department experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS
• New York State RN Licensure required
