ICU - Intensive Care Unit

Opportunity:

RN - ICU

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts available from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM with self-scheduling (not always guaranteed)
• Every other weekend requirement
• Holiday rotation will align with permanent staff schedule, typically one major and one minor holiday required
• Patient ratios of 1:2, may be 1:1
• Unit consists of ICU and CCU with 20 beds
• Charting system: Cerner (experience preferred)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Must be able to read cardiac monitor strips independently (Phillips monitors, no monitor tech on unit)
• Responsible for managing drips including vasopressin, levophed, norepinephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, propofol, fentanyl, and others
• Ventilator management required
• Common patient diagnoses include neuro surgery cases such as craniotomies, carotids, ventriculostomies, ICP monitoring, open heart, post caths, impellas, and balloon pumps
• Travelers with experience in impellas and balloon pumps may take those patients with skill validation
• No CRRT or ECMO
• Floating required to IMCU (stepdown) or Observation, first to float on evening shift
• 3-shift floor-specific orientation provided
• Nurse aides available on unit from 5:00 PM to 5:30 AM for blood draws, EKGs, and other tech duties
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available 24/7
• Hospitalist and intensivist available on-call after hours
• Scrub color: Navy
• Must have a minimum of 3 years of ICU experience
• Travel experience preferred
• General ICU experience preferred; candidates with neuro or cardiac-specific experience will also be considered
• BSN not required
• Valid California nursing license required
