Med Surg RN Job in Wilmington, NC

You will work as a Registered Nurse on a Medical Surgical unit with a focus on general medicine and neurological patient diagnoses at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center Rapid Response in Wilmington, NC.

Position Details

• Night shift, 3x12 schedule
• 36 or 48 hours per week accepted
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• 91-day contract (13–20 weeks accepted)
• Start date: October 19, 2026
• Weekly pay: $1,931

Scheduling and Requirements

• 24-hour unit orientation
• Weekend requirement of 5–6 weekend shifts per contract (approximately every other weekend)
• Float requirement—travelers float first within or near the facility
• Block scheduling managed by unit manager
• Navy Blue scrubs required (not provided)
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Credentials and Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS

• CVA management
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Isolation precautions and PPE
• Medical/Surgical nursing
• Telemetry
• Nasal cannula
• Non-invasive airway management
• Peripheral line care and management
• Starting and maintaining IVs

Preferred Skills

• NIH stroke scale experience
• Neurology experience
• Experience in or willingness to learn the charge nurse role

Unit Systems

• Pyxis (medication management)
• EPIC (documentation)
• SBAR (communication)

Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters.
