ED - Emergency Room

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend requirement
• May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
• No on-call or standby requirements
• No floating requirements
• Acute care setting
• 5 years of emergency department experience required; trauma level 1 & 2 ED experience accepted
• Must be able to mix and titrate all critical drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Epinephrine, Insulin, and others
• Must be able to critically think and work independently
• First-time travelers accepted
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3
• Treat 40-50 patients per day on average, ranging from minor injuries to major traumas, STEMIs, strokes, crush injuries, burns, and amputations
• 1 triage nurse with 2 triage rooms; 5 beds and 2 trauma bays available
• 1 ED physician on site 24/7 and house supervisor available in-house 24/7
• Travelers will not be asked to serve in a charge nurse role
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry and EKGs independently
• Manage respiratory equipment, respiratory treatments, and 12-lead EKGs
• X-ray, CT, ultrasound, interventional technology, and MRI available 24/7; portable equipment available
• Phlebotomy available; RNs may draw labs as needed
• Charting system: TruBridge - Evident
• 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation with a preceptor depending on individual needs
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs; jackets without hoods permitted
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), NIHSS, NRP, PALS, TNCC, ENPC
• BSN not required
• New Mexico nursing license required
