ICU Registered Nurse Job in Charlottesville, VA

You will provide intensive nursing care to patients with life-threatening neurological and neurosurgical conditions at University of Virginia Medical Center. This is a night shift position working three 12-hour shifts per week, with every other weekend and every other holiday required. You must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays. Either 36 or 48 hours per week is available, though block scheduling cannot be guaranteed.

Your responsibilities include:

• Care for patients with central nervous system tumors, complex spine surgery, acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, neuro-endovascular interventions, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, neuromuscular diseases, status epilepticus, and central nervous system infections
• Manage ventilated patients with proficiency in CVA and acute stroke management
• Implement infection prevention protocols and interpret dysrhythmias
• Provide neuro intensive care to adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• Maintain a patient ratio of 1:2 on days, nights, and weekends
• Float within scope of practice as facility policy requires

Requirements: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, Virginia nursing license (pending license accepted; must be in hand by Wednesday before your start date), ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS stroke certification (may submit with certification pending). You must be proficient with Epic charting and experienced in intensive care nursing. A BSN is preferred.

You will treat patients across all age groups in a specialized neuro ICU setting. This 91-day assignment begins November 9, 2026, at a weekly pay rate of $2,056.
