PCU Registered Nurse Job in Overland Park, KS

Join BJC West - Saint Lukes South Hospital as a Registered Nurse in a PCU float pool position. You'll work three 12-hour night shifts per week for 91 days, starting October 5, 2026, earning $2,257 weekly.

Role Overview

As a float pool RN, you will not have a home unit. Instead, you'll rotate across approximately five Med-Surg intermediate and PCU departments, including MS/Tele, Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown settings across metro campuses as needed. You'll care for patients with heart failure, myocardial infarction, stroke, COPD, pulmonary embolisms, bacteremia, cellulitis, hematuria, seizures, and alcohol withdrawal.

Schedule and Requirements

• Patient ratio: 1:6
• Eight weekend shifts required per 6-week period (any combination of Friday, Saturday, or Sunday)
• Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed
• No on-call required
• Block scheduling not available
• Guaranteed 3 shifts per 13 weeks

Clinical Skills

You will manage cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation, telemetry monitoring, post-MI and pre/post cardiac catheterization care, IV insulin protocols, feeding tube care, continuous bladder irrigation, hemodialysis management, renal failure management, port access, blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, peripheral and PICC line management, IV starts, heparin protocols, cardiac drips, PCA management, surgical drains, chest tube management, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, tracheostomy management, isolation precautions, and wound care including wound vacs.

Qualifications

• 1 to 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Previous charge experience preferred
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
• Kansas and Missouri license or compact license required
• Epic charting system experience
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
