ED RN Job in Carmichael, CA

Mercy San Juan Medical Center is seeking a registered nurse for the emergency department. You'll work 12-hour night shifts in a 30-bed ED that includes a trauma bay with 2 beds, serving as a primary trauma center.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care with a 1:4 patient ratio
• Work night shifts starting at 6:45 AM with bedside report
• Manage standard ED patients, psych holds, and trauma cases
• Read and interpret EKG strips
• Support ventilator-dependent patients
• Float to other Sacramento facilities as needed, with rare possibility of mid-shift float
• Rotate holidays in with core staff
• Every other weekend required

Scheduling and Support:

• Self-scheduling with manager balancing; schedules released 4 weeks in advance and accessible remotely
• Charge nurse available for break relief and support
• Nurse aides available based on census and staffing needs
• Overtime and extra shifts available; staff trades permitted

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of emergency department experience
• Current ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications
• BSN not required

Orientation and Environment:

• 1-2 days of floor-specific orientation with preceptor
• Charting via Cerner
• Dress code: Navy scrubs with navy, white, or black undershirts; scrub jackets optional in navy

This 91-day assignment begins August 4, 2026. You'll earn $2,345 weekly on a 3x12 night schedule.
