ED RN Job in Salem, VA

Join Lewisgale Medical Center VA as a Registered Nurse in our 27-bed Emergency Department. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning October 26, 2026, offering three 12-hour day shifts per week at $1,932 weekly pay.

Role Overview

You will work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment with patient ratios of 4–6:1. Day shift staffing includes one charge nurse, five RNs, and 2–3 medics, with additional RNs joining at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. You will have no on-call responsibilities and will not float to other units.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a high-volume emergency setting
• Perform clinical procedures including rapid sequence intubation (RSI), sepsis interventions, stroke protocol with tPA administration, and central line placement
• Manage psychiatric patient care and coordinate facility transfers
• Document care using the Meditech EMR system

Requirements

• Current RN license
• Minimum 2–3 years of ER experience required
• Completion of 2–3 prior travel assignments
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications
• High-acuity, high-volume ER experience and comfort with 5:1 patient ratios preferred

Schedule Details

You will work day shifts from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., three days per week. A weekend requirement includes four weekend shifts (Saturday or Sunday for days) within each four-week scheduling period.

Work Environment

Dress code requires navy blue or white scrubs. You will work alongside a collaborative, team-oriented team in a busy emergency setting where you manage complex patients and acute interventions.
