Operating Room RN Job in Abilene, TX

Hendrick Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room in Abilene, Texas. This is a 91-day travel assignment on a 5x8 day shift schedule (Monday through Friday, with on-call and late days as required).

About the Role

You will work in a dynamic surgical environment specializing in Neuro/Spine, Ortho/Trauma, and General/Robotics/Trauma cases. You'll maintain a 1:1 patient ratio and care for patients across all age groups—adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. Craniotomy and burr hole experience are required. You may be asked to float to another campus or acceptable unit as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in the required service line
• Current BLS certification (required); ACLS, CNOR, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC preferred
• Craniotomy and burr hole experience (hard stop)
• Travel experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred

Skills and Procedures

You should be proficient in amputations, anterior cervical fusion, ACL reconstruction, appendectomy, arthroscopy, arthrotomy, burns, carpal tunnel release, cervical fusions, cholecystectomy, closed and open reduction of fractures, colon resection, craniotomy, Da Vinci Xi Surgical System, general OR, gunshot and stab wounds, hernia repair, kyphoplasty, laminectomy/discectomy, laparoscopic assisted procedures, lumbar fusion, mastectomy, ortho/spine surgery, spinal fusion, and total joint replacement.

Additional Information

The facility uses Altera/Allscripts for charting (prior experience preferred but not required). You will receive 40 orientation hours. Interdisciplinary support is available, including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, and rapid response teams.

Compensation

Weekly pay: $2,671. Assignment begins October 5, 2026.
