Telemetry RN Job in Bakersfield, CA

You will work as a registered nurse in a 32-bed telemetry unit at Mercy Hospital Southwest in Bakersfield, caring for patients with acute and chronic medical conditions, cardiac telemetry monitoring, stroke, and post-operative cases. This is a night shift position with 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM), running for 91 days starting October 26, 2026.

Shift Details

• Night shift hours: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend requirement with Friday/Saturday night shifts
• Four weekend shifts required in a 4-week schedule
• One major and one minor holiday requirement
• No on-call requirement; may be placed on standby for low census with 30-minute response time
• Shift huddles at 7:00 PM and 7:00 AM each shift
• One to two shifts of preceptor orientation

Clinical Responsibilities

• Manage patient ratios of 1:4 for telemetry and mixed teams, 1:5 for med/surg patients
• Read and interpret cardiac rhythms using GE monitors
• Administer set-rate drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Heparin; no titration required
• Support CPAP and BiPAP use per respiratory therapy and physician order
• No ventilator management
• Provide bedside shift reports, intentional hourly rounding, and medication education including side effects
• Chart in Cerner electronic health record system

Floating and Unit Details

Travelers are first to float and may be assigned to Mercy Downtown (6.5 miles away), med/surg or telemetry units, ICU for med/surg telemetry patients, or the emergency room for med/surg telemetry holds. All patient rooms are private.

Requirements

• Current RN license
• Minimum 2 years acute care nursing experience
• ACLS, BLS (AHA), and NIHSS (AHA or APEX) certifications
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms
• Cerner experience preferred
• BSN not required

Dress Code

Navy blue scrubs required; undershirts must be navy, white, or black; scrub jackets must be navy. No hoodies, sweatshirts, or sweat jackets.

Weekly pay is $2,063. You will be working in an acute care setting with a collaborative team.
