ED RN Job in Phoenix, AZ

St Josephs Hospital and Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department in Phoenix, AZ. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning November 2, 2026.

Role Overview

You will work three 12-hour night shifts per week at a patient ratio of 1:4. The Emergency Department and Trauma unit operates 36 acute beds, 54 subacute beds, and 6 trauma bays, treating approximately 88,000 patients annually. Common diagnoses include trauma, burns, chest pain, and spinal cord cases.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of ER experience (managers will consider less than 2 years with qualifying experience)
• At least 6 months of Trauma Level 1 experience
• Valid BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• Preferred: TNCC and ATCN certifications (ENPC is not accepted as a PALS replacement)
• Ability to read telemetry strips using Phillips monitors
• Must pass a Day 1 pass/fail exam (study guide provided)
• Must pass DYS exam prior to accepting the position (two attempts allowed)

Facility Resources

The unit uses Cerner for charting. Respiratory therapy manages ventilators with 24/7 availability. Pharmacy is available 24/7, with a pharmacist stationed in the ER 10 hours daily.

Training and Expectations

You will receive 2–3 shifts of floor-specific orientation. You must complete the SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion and port-a-cath insertion (pass/fail; sterile field required). Wear navy scrubs. Natural hair color is required; no facial piercings. Men must be clean shaven for fit testing.

Schedule and Travel

Two weekends are required per 4 weeks; holidays as needed. You may be floated between sister campuses approximately 30 minutes apart, including mid-shift floats. You must have your own vehicle as travel between facilities may be required.

Compensation

Weekly pay: $2,229.12
