Med Surg RN Job in Saint Louis, MO

You will work as a Registered Nurse on a Medical Surgical unit at Barnes-Jewish Hospital Nursing in Saint Louis, Missouri. This is a 91-day travel assignment with 4x12 night shifts, earning $2,432 per week.

Position Details

• 36 or 48 hours per week available
• Patient ratios of 1:4–6
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call required
• Float within service line required
• Maximum 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience
• Travel experience required
• Level I Trauma experience required
• ACLS and BLS certification
• Must pass Relias EKG exam—interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Epic charting system experience required

Clinical Skills & Responsibilities

You will care for patients transitioning from the ED, OR, or ICU settings. Your patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients (55+). Services span geriatric trauma, trauma cases (abuse/violence victims, MVA, MVC, falls), and acute care surgery (appendicitis, gallbladders, hernia repairs, fistulas, wounds, burns, TBI).

Required clinical skills include blood product administration, peripheral line care and management, phlebotomy, starting IVs, insulin management, PCA, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacements, surgical drains, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, oral suctioning, oxygen face masks, isolation precautions, and wound care with wound vac technology.

Equipment & Environment

You will work with lifts, restraints, wound vacs, traction, and external fixators. Interdisciplinary support is available through physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy.
