Med Surg RN Job in Knoxville, TN

You'll work as a Registered Nurse on a complex medical-surgical acute care unit at University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. This is a 91-day travel assignment with 3x12-hour night shifts, offering $2,002 weekly pay. Your start date is November 16, 2026.

Role Details

• Patient ratios: 1:6–7 on nights
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call duties
• 36 hours of orientation provided
• May float to med-surg and ER hold units as needed
• Block schedule accommodated based on patient and unit needs

Requirements

• Active, unencumbered Tennessee or multi-state compact RN license at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of experience in comparable-acuity hospital setting
• BLS and NIHSS certifications
• Cerner EMR experience required prior to placement
• Must pass basic dysrhythmia interpretation and medication tests during orientation
• Trauma Level I experience preferred

Clinical Skills You'll Use

• Blood product administration and central line care
• BiPAP/CPAP and chest tube management
• Heparin and IV insulin protocols
• Cardiac drip management and tracheostomy care
• Wound care, wound vac, and PCA management
• PICC line management and phlebotomy
• Arterial blood gas interpretation and dysrhythmia management
• Seizure disorder and traumatic brain injury care
• Pre- and post-cardiac catheterization and hemodialysis management
• Surgical drain and isolation precautions

Your Patient Population

You'll care for adults and geriatrics. Remote continuous telemetry monitoring equipment is used on the unit, and interdisciplinary support is available including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, radiology, social services, and phlebotomy.
