Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts
• 36 or 48 hours per week available
• Every other weekend required (if RN calls out on a weekend, they will be required to make that time up on a weekend)
• Block scheduling option available (Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday schedule)
• Patient ratio of 5-6:1, can flex up to 7:1 in extreme cases
• Float requirement: travelers may be required to float to any other med surg unit within the facility based on census
• Patient population includes orthopedic, neuro spine, med surg, and post-surgical patients
• Fast-paced unit requiring nurses to stay on top of pain management for ortho and spine patients
• Must be very customer service oriented
• Multiple pain medications administered due to high post-surgical and ortho population
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
• Minimum 2 years of experience required with orthopedic experience mandatory
• First-time travelers accepted with Epic experience
• Epic charting system experience required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Required skills: IV start, telemetry, blood product administration, central line care/management, interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, peripheral line care/management, surgical drains, total joint replacement, peripheral nerve block catheters, pre/post neurosurgery, ortho trauma, and experience with hip and trauma hips
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
• Preferred certifications: ACLS
• Preferred experience: charge nurse experience, Level I trauma experience
• No holiday RTO approved
• No RTO after booking is allowed
