Med Surg RN Job in Albany, GA

You'll work as a Registered Nurse on a 22-bed Med Surg observation unit at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia. This is a fast-paced role with high patient turnover and the opportunity to develop strong clinical skills in a supportive environment.

Schedule & Compensation

• 3x12 night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• Rotate holidays with permanent staff
• No on-call or standby requirements
• $2,123 weekly pay
• 12-hour cancellation notice required every 2 weeks
• Assignment duration: 168 weeks, starting August 31, 2026

Clinical Environment

• Patient ratios of 1:5 or 1:6
• Heavy telemetry unit with central monitoring—you read your own EKG strips
• Heparin is the primary titratable drip on the unit
• No ventilators; BiPap and CPAP may be present
• You perform your own EKGs and draw your own labs
• CNAs available on the floor when able
• Charge nurse occasionally takes patient assignments
• High patient throughput with up to 16 discharges per day and refills

Requirements & Support

• Minimum 1 year of RN experience with 1 travel assignment completed
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• ACLS not required but highly recommended
• 3-shift unit-specific orientation provided
• Floating to Med Surg may be required
• MEDITECH charting system

You'll work in a unit that values efficiency and teamwork. Your experience reading telemetry, managing common titratable medications, and handling high patient volume will be essential to success in this role.
