Med Surg RN Job in Alexandria, LA

You'll work as an RN on a 36-bed Medical-Surgical unit at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, LA. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning September 28, 2026, with shifts of three 12-hour nights per week (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM). You'll earn $2,233.80 weekly.

Unit Overview

Your unit operates with a 1:6 patient-to-nurse ratio. Patient care technicians are available at all times with census-based staffing adjustments. Unit secretaries staff two stations from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily. You'll have access to telemetry monitors, Dynamaps for vital signs, glucometers, iMobile phones, and bladder scanners.

Core Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care and perform thorough assessments with attention to detail
• Interpret telemetry rhythms and monitor cardiac activity
• Perform PICC line removal and vascular catheter or temporary catheter removal procedures
• Practice hourly rounding, bedside shift report, My Care Boards, and AIDET patient experience standards
• Document in Meditech (experience preferred)
• Float to other units as needed per facility floating policy

Scheduling

You'll work every other weekend with holidays also required. Shift hours are 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

Requirements

• Current RN license
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification (required prior to submission)
• Telemetry rhythm interpretation skills
• Strong nursing background with thorough assessment abilities
• Positive attitude, flexibility, dependability, teamwork, self-motivation, and multitasking ability
• Ceil blue scrubs required; hospital hygiene and dress code policy must be followed
