ED Registered Nurse Job in South Hill, VA

VCU Community Memorial Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for its Emergency Department in South Hill, VA. You'll work 3x12-hour night shifts in a 16-bed ED that flexes capacity during high census periods, caring for patients across all age groups from neonates through geriatrics.

What You'll Do:

• Manage a typical 4:1 nurse-to-patient ratio on nights
• Administer thrombolytics for strokes and STEMIs as part of primary stroke center protocols
• Perform and interpret point-of-care testing including urine pregnancy, strep, gastroccult, hemoccult, and glucose
• Utilize specialized equipment including Philips monitors, Level 1 Infuser, Bair Hugger, and ultrasound machines for IV placement
• Collaborate with ER techs, charge nurses, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Float within scope of practice as needed

Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year of emergency room nursing experience
• Community hospital experience required
• Current Virginia or compact state nursing license
• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications required
• EPIC charting experience (no exceptions)
• BSN preferred
• TNCC and NRP certifications preferred
