PCU RN Job in Asheville, NC

You'll work as an RN in a 44-bed Progressive Care Unit at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. This is a travel position offering three 12-hour night shifts per week (6:45 PM to 7:15 AM) for 91 days, starting August 10, 2026. Your weekly pay is $2,125.

Your Role

You'll provide direct patient care in a progressive care setting with typical patient ratios of 4:1 at grid and 5:1 when stretched. The unit operates with 2 CNC/Charge nurses, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, and 1 HUC per shift. You'll be responsible for neuro and trauma patients, performing neuro and spinal checks, managing C-collar placement and TLSO brace care, and assisting with lumbar drain and feeding tube placement.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Manage chest tubes, PCA pumps, and IV infusions
• Administer blood transfusions
• Operate IV pumps, Skylift equipment, PCA pumps, chest tubes, trachs, and patient lifts
• Float to step-down units and med-surg units as needed

Unit Details

The facility uses Cerner as the EMR system. Dress code requires navy blue scrubs. You'll work every other weekend as part of the staffing grid.

Requirements

You must hold current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications. Neuro and trauma care experience is required for this role.
