PCU Progressive Care Unit RN Job in Grand Island, NE

CHI Health St Francis in Grand Island, NE is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU/Stepdown). This is a 105-day travel assignment beginning September 28, 2026.

Shift and Schedule

• 3x12-hour night shifts per week (two options: 6:30 AM–7:00 PM or 6:30 PM–7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend requirement
• Holiday shifts as needed
• Unit schedulers will create your schedule

The Role

You will work on a 33-bed stepdown unit serving young adults through geriatric patients. Your responsibilities include:

• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5 with CNA support at 1:10
• Titrate drips including Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, IV antibiotics, and Insulin
• Read and interpret telemetry/monitor strips independently
• Manage patients with sepsis, STEMI, CHF, chest pain, stroke, renal failure, COPD, DKA, and complex medical/multisystem issues
• Operate RT equipment including BiPAP and Airvo
• May float to MedSurg, Inpatient Rehab, or Skilled Care as needed

Orientation

Your first week includes classroom training followed by 2 twelve-hour shifts on the floor. You will complete a pass/fail open-book exam requiring a minimum score of 90% to pass.

Requirements and Details

• Valid RN license
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Charting system: EPIC
• BSN not required
• Valid driver's license required at submittal
• Must reside outside 50-mile radius of facility
• Cannot be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity affiliated facility
• Navy Blue scrubs required
• Artificial nails prohibited in all patient care departments

Compensation

Weekly pay: $2,384.64
