PACU Registered Nurse Job in Abilene, TX

Hendrick Medical Center South is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning December 7, 2026.

Position Details

• Shift: 5x8 days (varied start times; 4x10 schedule may be considered)
• Weekly pay: $2,332.80
• Call required

Requirements

• Current RN license
• Minimum 2 years PACU or related experience
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS
• Travel experience preferred
• Local candidates within 150 miles of facility are not eligible

Core Responsibilities

You will deliver Phase I and Phase II post-anesthesia recovery care across diverse patient populations, including adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. Your scope includes airway assessment, conscious sedation monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition and management, malignant hyperthermia protocol response, and pain assessment and management. You will manage PCA pumps, administer procedural sedation, monitor nerve blocks, manage post-epidural patients, and work with reversal agents as needed.

Clinical Skills

• IV initiation and maintenance, phlebotomy, blood product administration
• Insulin protocols and glucose management
• Pediatric PACU care and monitoring
• Monitored anesthesia care (MAC) and spinal anesthesia recovery
• Altera charting system experience preferred but not required

Surgical Experience

You will support recovery from orthopedic, general surgery, gynecological, ENT, plastics, urology, robotics, bariatric, and podiatry procedures.
