Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• Night shift position working 36 or 48 hours per week
• ED Holding support position located in the float pool
• Care for patients located within the Emergency Department who are waiting for an inpatient bed
• Patients may include any adult medical/surgical diagnosis, including PCU level patients
• Expected to take MS/Tele cases and float to ED and MedSurg areas as needed
• Target patient ratios: 1:6 for MS/Tele or 1:4 for PCU level patients
• Every other weekend required
• Maximum of 7 days RTO; RTO after booking is not allowed
• Schedule managed by unit manager
• 12 hours of unit orientation provided
• Navy scrubs required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Contract staff may be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty, or disaster situations
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS
• Required skills: MS/Tele, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote), use of Rapid Response Teams, colostomy care, feeding tube care and management, renal failure, blood product administration, peripheral line care/management, phlebotomy, PICC line management, heparin, insulin, isolation precautions, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), interpretation of ABGs, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tank, and tracheostomy management
• Preferred skills: NIHSS, IV insulin protocols, pre/post hemodialysis management, accessing ports, central line blood draw, starting IVs, CVA, pre/post neuro surgery, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, ortho trauma, total joint replacements, and wound care/wound vac
• Equipment used: cardiac monitors, IV pumps, and other standard monitoring systems
• Systems used: Pyxis, Epic, SBAR
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Interdisciplinary support available including respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
• No on-call required
