PCU RN Job in Kearney, NE

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, Nebraska. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting September 28, 2026, with a weekly pay of $2,359 for three 12-hour night shifts (6:30 PM – 6:30 AM).

Unit Overview

The 40-bed PCU unit maintains an average daily census of 24 patients with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5 on both day and night shifts. Nurse aide and patient care tech support is available at a 1:12 ratio. A charge nurse works each shift and carries a patient assignment.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Titrate drips including Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin
• Manage arterial lines competently
• Read and interpret telemetry strips independently
• Operate high-flow respiratory equipment
• Care for patients with cardiac med/surg, dialysis, cancer, vascular, sepsis, adult respiratory, stroke, post-stent, post-pacer placement, and renal failure diagnoses

Schedule & Requirements

You will work every other weekend with a minimum of two holidays required during the contract. Floating to Med-Surg or ICU for PCU acuity patients is required. If placed on call and called back, you must be able to arrive within 30 minutes. The hospital may cancel up to three shifts during assignments shorter than 13 weeks.

Orientation & Certifications

One day of unit-specific orientation is provided. You must pass a 90% or higher on an open-book exam during orientation. Required certifications include ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS. A BSN is not required.

Facility Details

Charting uses EPIC. Navy blue scrubs are required. Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments. A driver's license is required at submittal. RTO requests of seven days or fewer must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved.
