PCU Registered Nurse Job in Omaha, NE

CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center – Bergan Mercy is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). You will work 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM on a 55-bed unit located on the 4th Floor East Wing, with an every-other-weekend requirement.

Role and Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care with a 1:4 patient ratio for night shifts
• Care for adult patients with common diagnoses including CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, subdural hematoma, and generalized weakness (pediatric patients 15 years or older rare)
• Administer medications and manage drips, including PCA pumps, Cardizem, and insulin
• Operate IV pumps and Alaris equipment
• Monitor patients using telemetry systems
• Complete charting in the EPIC electronic medical record system
• Demonstrate float capability to medical-surgical areas based on facility need

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Current RN licensure
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Proficiency with PCA pumps, common cardiac medications, and insulin management
• Telemetry competency
• Familiarity with IV pump systems, specifically Alaris
• Valid driver's license; must reside more than 50 miles from the facility

Support and Resources

You will have access to nursing assistants, charge nurses, educators, care managers, social workers, dieticians, physical therapists, and occupational therapists on the unit.

• Navy blue scrubs required
• Artificial nails prohibited in all patient care departments
• BSN not required
• Orientation includes a pass/fail open-book exam with a 90% minimum passing score
• Assignment duration: 91 days
• Start date: October 12, 2026
• Weekly pay: $2,436.48
