NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care

RN - NICU

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts
• Every other weekend requirement
• Holidays worked into permanent staff rotation
• On-call requirement: must be available within 30 minutes of call and may be placed on call for low census
• Float requirement: expected to float and help with other tasks, including floating to couplet care
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NRP, NRP Advanced (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), STABLE Certification (RNC-NIC preferred)
• Epic electronic health record experience required - must indicate yes/no and last time used upon submission
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required with at least Level III experience or above
• Must have couplet care experience
• Must be skilled in breastfeeding techniques and patient education
• Must be comfortable with stabilization, high flow nasal cannula, and CPAP
• Must be confident and competent in neonatal resuscitation from the moment of birth
• Expected to attend deliveries in the role of baby nurse, responsible for immediate care of the newborn including initiating resuscitation if needed
• Charge experience preferred
• Must be confident working in a smaller environment with limited resources
• No first-time travelers accepted
• Pediatric/PICU experience helpful for floating purposes
• Unit ratio is 1:2:3 with always at least 2 nurses on the unit
• Monitor all telemetry using Philips tele monitors and Philips fetal monitors
• Scrubs provided by facility
• Orientation is typically 2-3 shifts depending on experience
• Must be able to manage patients independently with small staff and limited resources
