PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• 3x12-hour day shifts, 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
• Must work at least 1 holiday per 13-week contract
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2-week period
• Patient ratios: Goal of 4:1, typically 5:1 for both days and nights
• Float required occasionally to another PCU or medical/surgical level of care unit
• No on-call required
• Charting system: Epic experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• Experience in telemetry, PCU, DOU, IMC, and stepdown settings required
• Proficient in cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with Rapid Response and Code teams required
• Administration of cardiac drips (Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, Lasix) with no titration required
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care required
• Competency in chest tubes, trach care, PICC line management, and medication administration required
• Respiratory skills required including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, CPAP, BiPAP, and non-invasive airway management
• Telemetry is remote; monitors remain on the unit with tele-sitting implemented for additional patient care tech support
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
• All requested time off must be submitted with initial submission
