NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care

RN - NICU

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend requirement
• Rotating holiday schedule with core staff
• Self-scheduling utilized but finalized by manager with schedule done 6 weeks at a time
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Minimum of 2 years of Level III or IV NICU experience required
• Work in a 13-bed private room Level III NICU following AWHONN staffing guidelines
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: most assignments 1:2, occasional 1:1, feeder grower infants 1:3
• Must be proficient with NC, HFNC, BCPAP, vents, chest tubes, UVC, UAC, and ELBW infants
• RT equipment includes bubble CPAP, high flow NC, vents, and NIPPV
• Attend deliveries and complete admissions as part of couplet care model
• May assist with newborns on Mother Baby unit including lab work, infants on observation/transition, or newborn assignments
• Common diagnoses include PPHN, prematurity (25-34 weeks), hypoglycemia, and respiratory support cases
• Delivery experience highly preferred
• May be asked to precept as needed by the unit
• Floating requirements include flexing to Resource nurse to assist Mother Baby staff with circumcisions, lab draws, CCHD, car seat studies, deliveries, and admissions
• First to float between College Station and Bryan campus (16 minutes apart) as needed
• Charting system: MEDITECH
• Scrub color: Navy - undershirts must be navy; scrub jackets are optional but must be navy
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NRP - Advanced, STABLE (must be up to date before coming onsite)
