Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Acute care setting with 30 all-private beds and an average census of 20 patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-6
• Generally every 3rd weekend required with flexibility based on unit needs
• Every 3rd holiday required with expectation to work one winter holiday
• No on-call or standby requirement unless shift cancellation is requested or volunteered
• No self-scheduling; block scheduling accommodated as much as possible
• Two days of nursing department orientation and one day of floor orientation provided
• Charting system: EPIC
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
• Scrub color: Any solid color, no patterns or designs
• Common patient diagnoses include dementia, post-surgical, falls, influenza, pneumonia, failure to thrive, and cancer
• Experience with chest tubes preferred; pain management, TPN, CBI, and wound care experience valued
• Charge nurse experience a plus but not required; may be asked to take charge role if experienced
• Nurse aids available on unit with generally 2-3 per shift
• Telemetry on the floor with monitor techs available to read
• CPAP equipment managed by respiratory therapy
• No drip titration required
• Float capability to PCU for MedSurg overflow or very low acuity PCU patients
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
