RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Medical Surgical - Neuro unit serving adult patients
• Option to sign for 36 or 48 hours per week (3x12 or 4x12 shifts)
• Patient ratios of 1:4-5 on days, nights, and weekends
• Every other weekend required
• Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks (cancelled shifts must be the regular shift length assigned)
• Charge experience preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• General Med Surg experience required; Level I/Teaching experience preferred but not required
• Patient diagnoses include general neurological and neuromuscular disorders, MS, ALS, GBS, Stroke, Epilepsy, infections, and tumors
• Special procedures include LP, lumbar drains, Foley insertion/management, IV starts, G-tubes, and tracheostomies
• Special equipment includes Bladder Ultrasound
• Required skills include CVA management, feeding tube care, heparin, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, PCA, peripheral line care, telemetry, and tracheostomy care
• Must float within service line to neurosurgery or SDU as needed
• No on-call required
• Self-scheduling
• Charting system: Epic (experience required); must pass Relias EKG exam
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Scrub color: Navy
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from facility; local candidates not accepted
