Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg Tele

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• 36 hours per week only
• 13-week contract
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required as needed to other med/surg units and floors
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Prior travel experience required - unit will not accept first-time travelers; minimum 1 year of travel experience required as this is a complex floor
• Target patient ratio of 1:6, with occasional 1:7 ratio due to call-outs or general staffing needs
• Fast-paced unit that turns over approximately one-third of beds daily
• Patient population includes GI conditions, blood loss and anemia associated with the GI tract, infections, renal patients, post-GI surgical patients, and cardiac rhythm monitoring via 10 telemetry beds
• Unit systems include PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR
• 36 hours of orientation provided
• Scrubs: Navy and/or white
• IV start skills required
• Telemetry experience preferred
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
• Required skills include blood product administration, central line care and management, heparin protocols, interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of dysrhythmias, telemetry, wound care and wound vac, peripheral line care and management, PCA, renal failure management, surgical drains, and use of rapid response and code teams
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Patients include adults and geriatrics
• Daily census of 30 patients across 30 beds
