Telemetry RN Job in Wilmington, NC

Novant Health Scotts Hill Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for its 36-bed Telemetry unit. This is a 91-day contract position working three 12-hour night shifts per week (6:45 PM to 7:15 AM), with weekly pay of $2,027.

Key Details:

• Night shifts only; no call required
• Every other weekend required; maximum 7 days RTO per contract
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• 24-hour unit orientation
• Float required to other Med Surg units and main campus location (approximately 32 minutes away)
• Navy blue or white scrubs required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Requirements:

• 2 years of nursing experience; first-time travelers accepted
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
• Charge experience preferred
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred

Clinical Skills:You will manage telemetry remote monitoring, interpret and manage dysrhythmias, and provide care including central line blood draws, PICC line management, chest tube management, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, feeding tube care, hemodialysis pre/post management, blood product administration, and wound care. Additional skills include phlebotomy, IV starts and maintenance, colostomy/ileostomy care, bowel obstruction management, and oral suctioning.

Patient Population:Adults and geriatric patients with diagnoses including diabetes, dementia, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, hip fracture, CHF, UTI, surgical recovery, renal failure, hypertension, cellulitis, and failure to thrive.

Support and Systems:You will work with an interdisciplinary team including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, social services, and unit secretaries. The unit uses Pyxis and Epic charting systems.

Additional Considerations:Contract staff are assigned to a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters. You must be willing to work 2 of 3 major holidays during the contract period.
