ED RN Job in Philadelphia, PA

Temple University Hospital is seeking a registered nurse for our Emergency Department. This is a 13-week travel contract beginning November 9, 2026.

Role Overview

You will provide direct patient care in a high-acuity emergency setting serving all age groups—infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. The patient population is approximately 75% ambulatory/outpatient and 25% inpatient boarders. Pediatric volume runs about 5%. You will work with ED Techs who provide ancillary support.

Shift and Pay

You will work three 12-hour night shifts per week. Weekly pay is $2,300.40 at local rates. Every other weekend is required. Paid time off is auto-approved up to 5 days; if 5 days are consecutive, 1 week will be added to your contract end date.

Patient Ratios and Responsibilities

• Standard ED: 1:4 ratio
• High acuity: 1:3 ratio
• Trauma/critical care: 1:2 ratio

You must have independent competency in airway and respiratory management, including breathing treatments, CPAP/BiPAP, mechanical ventilation, RSI medication administration, procedural sedation, chest tube setup and care, and tracheostomy care. You will manage trauma patients, cardiac emergencies, neurologic emergencies, medical and surgical emergencies, burn patients, behavioral health crises, and pediatric and NICU/PICU boarders held in the ED.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 full year of recent Emergency Department experience in high-acuity settings
• No new graduates considered; observational or orientation-only experience does not qualify
• Active Pennsylvania RN License
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications

Additional Details

Scrub color is royal blue. No special schedule requests; no 48-hour contracts. The interview process is conducted virtually. This is a 13-week contract only with no extensions under this term.
