ICU - Intensive Care Unit

Job Details:

• Every other weekend (EOW) schedule required, with additional weekend shifts based on unit needs
• On-call required as needed
• 3+ years of RN ICU experience required
• 6 months of travel nursing experience required
• Patient ratio of 2:1
• Charting system experience required; Epic charting system used
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Adults patient population; daily census of 16–20 patients; 24-bed unit
• May float to other units within scope of practice, including Ashby or Herrick Campus depending on census and need
• All travel nurses are expected to be flexible with floating to different campuses or within the hospital; a shuttle is provided if floating is requested, with approximately 1.5 hours notice prior to shift start in most cases
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (must be AHA or ARC)
• Valid California RN License required
• Required skills include: arterial line management, blood product administration, care of ventilated patients, central line care/management, continuous IV sedation, CVA/acute stroke management, emergency medications, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), infection prevention, interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs), interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, IV insulin protocols, obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG, PICC line management, pre/post cardiac cath/intervention, pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring, sheath removal, suctioning (ETT, NT), titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, ventilator management, and more
• Special procedures include: open heart surgery, VAT, thoracotomy, TAVR, and ECMO
• Special equipment includes: NXT Stage CRRT, EKOS, ventilator, IABP, and Impella
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary
• Common patient diagnoses include: sepsis, AKI, respiratory failure, STEMI, heart failure, stroke, cardiogenic shock, DKA, and polysubstance abuse
