PCU RN Job in Denton, TX

Medical City Denton is seeking an RN for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU). You will work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM on the 5th floor of the main building, caring for patients requiring acute surgical intervention, post-operative recovery, and management of complex medical conditions.

Unit Details

• 25-bed PCU with night shift staffing of 1 charge nurse, 6 RNs, and 3 techs
• Patient ratio of 1:4, with a maximum of 1:5
• No on-call requirement
• Floating requirement to stepdown service lines including Progressive Care Unit and Heart and Vascular Unit

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide post-operative care for trauma, bariatric, vascular, general, urological, orthopedic, neuro/spine, and GI surgery patients
• Manage patients with neurological diagnoses including CVA, TIA, TBI, altered mental status, meningitis, new onset seizures, and hypertensive crisis
• Monitor and treat cardiac patients including chest pain, CHF, sepsis, alcohol withdrawal, and acute dysrhythmias
• Administer and monitor IV drips including Heparin, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, and Dopamine
• Perform telemetry monitoring and vital signs assessment every 4 hours

Requirements

• Current RN license
• ACLS, BLS, and NIH certifications required
• Trauma and orthopedic experience preferred
• Meditech EMR experience preferred
• Strong customer service and communication skills

Medical City Denton is a Level 2 trauma center with 90% of inpatients originating from the emergency department. You will join a team-oriented environment and contribute to care for critically ill and post-operative patients in a fast-paced setting.
