PACU - Post Anesthesia Care

Opportunity:

RN - PACU

Job Details:

• Variable 10 or 12-hour shifts staggered between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM
• 10-hour shifts are the primary need with 1-2 12-hour shifts scheduled as well
• Call required one night per week from 7:30 PM to 7:30 AM (12 hours)
• Weekend call required approximately every 6th weekend (12.5 hours): Day shifts Saturday and Sunday 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM; Night shifts Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Holiday call required as needed for Thanksgiving and Christmas (24-hour period from 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM)
• Call response time is 30 minutes
• Hybrid scheduling - shift requests are accepted but not guaranteed; no block scheduling available
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1 for pediatric or unstable patients, 2:1 for all others
• Common cases include orthopedics (total joints and spine), OB/GYN, general surgery, urology, and endoscopy
• Work across Preop, Phase 1, and Phase 2 PACU areas; floating within the unit is required
• ICU patients recover in PACU
• RNs are required to read strips
• No nurse aides on the unit
• Respiratory therapy equipment includes ventilators, Optiflow, BiPAP, and CPAP
• Charge nurses take assignments as needed
• Dress code: Blue scrubs; hospital-provided scrubs are changed into on-site
• Charting system: Epic
• Critical care experience in PACU or ICU required
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA)
• BSN not required
• Must be within 60 miles of the facility; valid driver's license must be submitted
• Must be in-state for the week of orientation
