PCU Registered Nurse Job in Omaha, NE

CHI Health Lakeside is seeking a Registered Nurse for its 28-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU). You will work three 12-hour night shifts per week on a 6-week scheduling cycle, with shift times from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM. This position requires you to relocate; candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility.

Your Role

You will care for adult patients in a mixed medical/surgical, cardiac, and stroke population. The unit operates with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio and maintains a charge nurse on each shift. You will manage a high-flow unit with frequent admissions, transfers, and discharges. Nurse aides and patient care techs are available at a 1:14 ratio to support your work.

Key Responsibilities

• Titrate medications including Heparin, octreotide, insulin, Cardizem, nitro, and maintenance IV medications
• Read and interpret telemetry monitoring
• Operate specialty equipment including Code Carts, LUCAS Machines, Hoyer lifts, and Sit and Stand devices
• Manage patient care with flexibility to float to Med/Surg and other hospital areas including ICU and ED as needed

Scheduling and Requirements

The 6-week schedule includes 6 weekend shifts per cycle, with night weekends falling on Fridays and Saturdays. You will participate in holiday rotation with permanent staff. A valid driver's license is required at submission.

Required Credentials and Certifications

• Current RN license
• ACLS, BLS (AHA), and NIHSS certifications
• BSN is not required

Orientation and Systems

Your first week includes classroom-based training, followed by two 12-hour shifts of unit-specific orientation. You must pass an open-book exam with a minimum score of 90%. The facility uses EPIC for charting. Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas. Scrubs must be navy blue.

Duration and Compensation

This is a 91-week assignment beginning October 26, 2026, with a weekly pay of $2,384.64.

Candidates cannot be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity Health.
