PCU RN Job in Omaha, NE

You'll work as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Oncology unit at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center – Bergan Mercy in Omaha, Nebraska. This is an 18-bed PCU oncology unit (5 North) serving adult oncology and trauma PCU patients.

Shift & Schedule

• 3 twelve-hour night shifts per week (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• Self-scheduling available, balanced to unit needs
• Patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:4 to 1:5

What You'll Do

• Provide direct patient care to oncology and trauma PCU patients
• Titrate insulin and Cardizem drips
• Manage common medications including chemotherapy, heparin, Cardizem, and Protonix
• Work with high-flow respiratory equipment
• Participate in hourly rounding and bedside shift reports
• Chart in Epic using Alaris IV pumps
• May float to other Med/Surg and PCU units at the same level of care

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience; first-time travelers accepted
• Oncology experience preferred; strong PCU experience without oncology is acceptable
• Current ACLS and BLS (AHA) certifications required
• ONS/ONCC and chemo certifications preferred but not required
• Valid driver's license required at submission
• Able to pass an open-book skills exam with 90% or higher during orientation
• Artificial nails prohibited

• Two days of unit orientation provided
• Access to nursing assistants, charge nurse, PT/OT, RN case manager, social worker, educator, and dietitian
• Lyko lifts in even-numbered rooms with additional lift equipment available
