PCU RN Job in Omaha, NE

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center – Bergan Mercy in Omaha, Nebraska. This is a 91-day travel assignment with a start date of November 16, 2026.

Shift and Schedule: You will work three 12-hour night shifts per week with an every-other-weekend requirement. Shifts run from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM. There is no on-call or standby requirement.

Role Responsibilities: You will care for patients requiring intermediate care and those downgraded from higher acuity levels, including patients with cardiac and vascular diagnoses such as CVAs, CHF, A-fib RVR, and cath lab patients. You will titrate drips including Amio, Nitro, Nicardipine, Epi, and Cardizem. You will manage and troubleshoot respiratory equipment including BiPAP, CPAP, and nasal cannula. You will read and interpret telemetry strips independently with remote tele tech support available. You will serve as charge nurse on each shift and rarely take a patient assignment. The unit has a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, with 1:3 for post-surgical patients within the first 24 hours. You may float to all same level and lower levels of acuity as needed.

Unit Focus: This unit heavily supports thoracic programs, EP, cath lab, and structural heart services. Nurse aides and patient care techs are available at a 1:18 ratio. Hospitalists and intensivists are in house 24/7 with cardiology on call after hours. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7.

Requirements: You must have a minimum of one year of experience with this patient population. Required certifications are BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS. A BSN is not required. A driver's license is required at submittal.

Orientation and Compliance: You will receive one to two shifts of unit-specific orientation tailored to your experience. You must pass a pass/fail open book exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%. Charting is done in EPIC. Dress code is navy blue scrubs, and artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments.

Compensation: Weekly pay is $2,425.
