Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Day shift position with 36 or 48 hours available per week
• 13-week contract
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
• Every other weekend required, must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays
• Maximum 40 hours of pre-approved time off per 13-week contract
• Float required as needed within scope of practice
• Care for adult patients in a stepdown transplant unit specializing in solid organ transplant (kidney, liver, pancreas)
• Manage patients in post-operative and post-transplant phases of care, as well as readmitted post-transplant patients
• Perform arterial line monitoring, peritoneal dialysis, LIP managed vasoactive drip medication administration, post biopsy care and monitoring, and complex glucose management
• Patient diagnoses include kidney failure, liver failure, pancreas failure, and post-transplant complication care
• Patient ratio of 4:1 for days, nights, and weekends
• Daily census of 25 with 28 beds and 28 rooms
• Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and more
• Required skills include arterial line management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care, heparin protocols, vasoactive drip management, telemetry interpretation, IV insulin protocols, PICC line management, wound care, and more
• Special equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Glucommander, 12-lead ECG, bladder scanner, PCA medication pumps, and bedside in-room telemetry monitors
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
• Epic charting system experience required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• BSN preferred
• Virginia nursing license required (pending licenses accepted)
• Must adhere to float policy as needed
