PCU Registered Nurse Job in Richmond, VA

VCU Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the 11 West Neuroscience Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Richmond, Virginia. This 34-bed unit specializes in neurology, neurosurgery, and ENT care, with 6 progressive care beds and 15 total telemetry beds.

Position Details:

• Shift: 3x12 nights
• Duration: 91 days
• Start date: October 12, 2026
• Weekly pay: $2,372
• Self-scheduling with weekend coverage required; every other weekend (EOW) mandatory
• 2 holidays required per contract

Your Role:

You will provide direct patient care to adult and geriatric populations, including stroke, seizure, dementia, and neuromuscular disorder patients. You will also care for neurosurgery patients with head, neck, and back trauma as well as elective surgeries, and ENT patients with radical neck surgery due to trauma or cancer. Additional services include surgery trauma, orthopedics, general surgery, and medicine. Stable ventilator patients are accepted in progressive care.

Required Qualifications:

• Registered Nurse (RN) degree
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• EPIC charting experience (no exceptions)
• Virginia or compact state license
• BLS certification
• Skills in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Trauma Level I experience

Unit Support:

You will have access to interdisciplinary support including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy, and Rapid Response Teams. Candidates may float within scope as needed.
