PCU Registered Nurse Job in Roanoke, VA

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia. This is a 91-day travel assignment with 3x12 night shifts, running 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM. You will earn $2,346 per week.

Assignment Details

• Float between PCU and medical/surgical units; staffing needs are re-evaluated every 4 hours, so you may float 2–3 times per shift
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week scheduling block
• Must work at least 1 holiday per 13-week contract
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2-week period
• PCU patient ratio averages 5:1; Med/Surg averages 6:1 (may flex to 7:1)

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• EPIC charting experience
• Proficiency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
• Central line care, trach management, and non-invasive airway support (nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, chest tubes—Emerson/PleurEvac)
• Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, titration of cardiac drips, and Rapid Response/Code team participation
• PCA and heparin protocol management, IV insulin administration, endocrine and metabolic condition care
• Background in telemetry and stepdown-level care (PCU/DOU/IMC) with cardiovascular experience in pre- and post-cardiac catheterization settings

Patient Population & Support

You will care for adult and geriatric patients. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation.
