PCU RN Job in Kansas City, MO

Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO is hiring an RN for a 91-day travel assignment in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This is a 3x12 night shift role (7 p.m. to 7 a.m.), paying $2,233.80 per week.

Role Overview

You will work in a mixed-acuity department that serves ICU, PCU, Telemetry, and Medical/Surgical level adult patients. Your patient ratios will vary based on acuity. Burn experience is preferred but not required; however, ICU or PCU background is mandatory. You may float to like units including ICU, PCU, and CCU as needed, and as agency staff you may be first to float when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform clinical procedures including debridement, dressing changes, line insertion, chest tube insertions and maintenance, and post-operative procedural care
• Demonstrate proficiency in cardiac rhythm monitoring and hemodynamic monitoring
• Titrate drips according to protocol
• Document patient care using the Meditech electronic documentation system
• Operate equipment including Alaris IV pumps, Hill-Rom beds and call light systems, GE cardiac monitoring equipment, AirStrip for cardiac rhythms, and Imobile phones
• Maintain patient experience standards through courtesy, respect, and bedside shift report requirements

Schedule & Requirements

You will work 3 weekend shifts in each 4-week scheduling period. There are no on-call requirements. Assignment begins September 21, 2026.

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• NIH (National Institutes of Health) Stroke Certification
• ABLS (Advanced Burn Life Support) preferred but not required

Dress Code

Navy blue scrub top with navy blue or black scrub pants and scrub jacket are required. T-shirts, hoodies, and sweatshirts are not permitted.
