PCU Registered Nurse Job in Kansas City, MO

BJC West - Saint Lukes Hospital Plaza is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Kansas City, Missouri. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning January 4, 2027, with 4x12 night shifts and weekly pay of $2,688.

Position Overview

You will work 36 or 48 hours per week with a patient ratio of 1:5 on days, nights, and weekends. Eight weekend shifts are required within each 6-week schedule period. No on-call is required, and guaranteed hours are three shifts per 13 weeks. Block scheduling is not available. You may be asked to float between departments, units, and facilities as needed, and to accept Charge RN assignments and holiday shifts per unit requirements.

Requirements and Experience

You must hold a current RN license (pending license accepted) with BLS and ACLS certifications. Minimum two years of nursing experience is required; first-time travelers are accepted. Previous charge experience is preferred. EPIC charting system experience is preferred. Your home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility.

Clinical Focus

This unit serves adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients with diagnoses including medical cardiac step down, chest pain, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, and multiple system diseases. You will manage cardiac telemetry, interpret dysrhythmias, and provide post-cardiac procedure care including post-angiogram, post-MI, and pre/post cardiac catheterization and surgery.

Required Skills

• Cardiac telemetry monitoring and interpretation, with management of arrhythmias
• Central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care and management
• Starting and maintaining IVs; heparin and IV insulin protocols
• Management of cardiac drips and vasoactive drips (no titration)
• Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), surgical drains, and wound care
• Tracheostomy management, external CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen delivery
• ABG interpretation, feeding tube care, and renal failure management
• Blood product administration, port access, and PCA management
• Rapid Response Team coordination and isolation precautions

Support Services

You will have access to interdisciplinary support including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy, and Unit Secretaries. Maximum requested time off is seven days during the 91-day assignment.
